A memorable summer in the Basto region - Find out what you can do

Share
Like never before, going on holidays in Portugal is the perfect option for some unforgettable relaxation! And the Celorico de Basto region has a wealth of landscapes, flavours and traditions. Discover what this unique vinho verde region has to offer.

Portugal is a heterogenous country with a wide range of tourist attractions. With its mild climate and long coastline with fantastic beaches on the Atlantic shore, it's love at first sight. But the country is much more than that! Tourism in Portugal is recognised for its exceptional cultural heritage, where the traditional and the modern live in harmony. Of its many riches, we can highlight its cuisine and the singular nature of its wines

Wine tourism in Portugal – Discover the vinho verde region

Wine tourism is one of the success segments of tourism in Portugal, with journeys motivated by the enjoyment of the flavour and aroma of wine, complemented by the discovery of the traditions and culture of the places that produce wine.  There are 14 DOC (Controlled Designation of Origin) regions in Portugal. The Vinho Verde Region - demarcated in 1908 - is the largest wine-producing region in Portugal, with an area of 7,000 km2, making it one of the largest in Europe.

Its landscapes are a reflection of its colour and its freshness! The Basto region is one of the 9 sub-regions making up this region. And this is where Quinta da Raza is located, at Lugar de Peneireiros in Celorico de Basto. This unique terroir - because of the mountains that surround it and the River Tâmega flowing through it - gives rise to gentle slopes and excellent exposure to sunlight, which is important for the granite and clay-schist soil in Raza.

Enjoy the singular nature of our vinho verde at Quinta da Raza

We believe that it is not by chance that our name goes so well with the word "casa” (home). In fact, Raza has everything that is associated with the imagery that soothes the soul. The many hectares in it breathe familiarity and reflect the care with which they are worked. By people of the land. By people who have known it for so many years, for so many harvests!

When you visit Quinta da Raza, you get the feeling of being welcomed by family and of being in a place where tradition is passed down from generation to generation. Diogo and Mafalda Teixeira Coelho will take you on a trip through past centuries, which gave rise to the wines that have now earned national and international prestige.

Here you can also take the time to admire our panoramic terrace with breathtaking views over the vineyards, Alvão and Marão, and enjoy our assorted, thematic wine tastings. Our Wine Tourism programmes are the starting point for these experiences:
